Teaching & Learning Support Assistant-TLSA (Maternity Cover - until end of June 2026)

PP - Independent Salary Scale:
Pay dependent upon qualifications and experience:

Grade 2: £24,817 - £27,007 FTE (Salary pro rata to 39 weeks)

Full time (8.30am-4.00pm) Term time only

Phoenix Place is a specialist independent school (established 2014) for girls with complex social, emotional, educational and attachment difficulties. We provide education, nurture and support across key stages 3 and 4 and are looking for a passionate Teaching & Learning Support Assistant to join our vibrant and growing school.

The right candidate will be someone who is dedicated to improving outcomes for students with additional needs, and can establish a quick rapport with staff, students and parents.

Responsibilities
  • Work under the guidance of the class teacher to support the management and organisation of teaching and learning in the classroom
  • Assist the teacher in creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environment
  • Promote the inclusion of all pupils ensuring they have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop
  • Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school
  • Contribute to the personal and academic progress of all students to enable them to become independent learners and help to raise the standards of achievement for all students.
Qualifications
  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above.
  • Empathy and understanding of students needs
  • Ability to maintain a professional manner in challenging situations.
  • Experience of planning and leading teaching and learning activities (desirable)
  • A proven ability to work on their own initiative.
  • A high level of communication skills and the ability to relate positively to children and adults.
  • The ability to use relevant technology/equipment.
  • A ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • A commitment to the happiness, well-being, self-esteem and progress of everyone at the school
