SEN Teaching Assistant – Autism (Primary School)
Location:
Canning Town
Pay: £95-£115 per day
We are looking for a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist ASD primary school in Canning Town. This role involves supporting pupils with autism across the primary age range, helping them access learning in a structured, nurturing and highly supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with autism
- Support communication using visuals, symbols, PECS or other AAC methods
- Assist with structured routines and transitions throughout the school day
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Support learning through practical and sensory-based activities
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and the wider SEN team
- Support personal care where required
- Experience supporting children with autism (school or care setting)
- Understanding of sensory needs and structured learning approaches
- Confident, patient and consistent approach
- Comfortable working as part of a team
- Willingness to support personal care
- Strong communication and safeguarding awareness
