About the SchoolA small, specialist
SEMH school near Hayesis seeking a compassionate and resilient Behaviour Mentor / Pastoral and Learning Support Assistant. The school supports students aged 5‑16 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and associated challenging behaviours. With a strong focus ontherapeutic, restorative approaches, the school helps students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, creating an environment where they can feel safe, valued, and capable of success.
This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates in Psychology, Criminology, or Sociology, or for anyone considering careers in probation, youth justice, social work, or mental health support.
Your Role- Buildpositive, trusting relationships with students who are disengaged or at risk of exclusion.
- Support students' social and emotional development through restorative approaches.
- Promote engagement, attendance, and confidence in learning.
- Work alongside teachers and therapists to deliver targeted interventions.
- Provide stability and consistency for students who have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
- Model empathy, respect, and resilience every day.
This role offers hands‑on, restorative experience that isinvaluable for careers in probation, rehabilitation, prison, or youth justice services.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Calm, empathetic, and able to manage challenging situations.
- Resilient, consistent, and able to work under pressure.
- Motivated, enthusiastic, and professional.
- No previous experience required, full training and CPD provided.
- Excellent on‑site training, support, and CPD.
- First‑hand experience with SEMH, behaviour intervention, and trauma‑informed practice.
- A pathway into probation, youth justice, psychology, or education careers.
