To ensure that the conduct of the students during public and internal examinations is in accordance with the rules and regulations of the examinations boards and/or school procedures. There will typically be at least two invigilators on duty at any time.
General Responsibilities- To ensure the fair and proper conduct of examinations in an environment that enables a pupil to perform at their best.
- To support the Data and Exam Manager with the day-to-day operation of exam venues.
- Assisting with setting up exam venues by laying out stationery, equipment and exam papers in accordance with strict procedures.
- Closely following and enforcing exam procedures and regulations.
- Assist pupils before the exam starts by directing them to their seats and advising them about possessions permitted in the venue.
- Ensure that pupils do not talk once inside the exam venue.
- Invigilate during exams, dealing with queries raised by pupils and exam irregularities in accordance with procedures.
- Check attendance during exams.
- Record details of late arrivals and early leavers and collect their paper.
- Escort pupils from venues during the exam as required and supervise pupils outside exam venue.
- Escort pupils on toilet breaks to ensure no unauthorised material is consulted and that exam regulations are observed at all times.
- Collect and deliver all papers at the end of the exam in accordance with strict procedures.
- Supervise pupils leaving exam venues, ensuring that no-one removes equipment or stationery from the venue without authorisation.
- Ensure that candidates leave the venue in a quiet and orderly manner.
- Supervise pupils when clashes occur in their exam timetable.
