Position:
Play Ranger (3 posts)
Part time – 20 hours per week, with possibility of increasing to 36 hours.
About the Role- Facilitate play opportunities for children aged 5‑16 years through community outreach.
- Support implementation of the borough’s Play Strategy and the Young Wandsworth Strategy.
- Advocate children’s right to play and involve families in activity development.
- Deliver inclusive, needs‑led play sessions in parks, hubs, schools and open spaces, focusing on children with disabilities and SEND.
- Collaborate with schools, partners and the Children’s Participation Team to recruit volunteer Play Champions CHAT and align activities subreddit the borough’s strategy and Service Action Plan.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety and safeguarding procedures; support the Family Help offer and contribute to team meetings and training.
- Work outdoors throughout the year in varying weather conditions; regular evening, weekend and holiday work is part of the role.
- Understanding of safeguarding procedures and commitment to inclusive practice.
- Experience working with children, young people or families in a diverse community.
- Proven ability to engage and empower young people through informal education and structured programmes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, observing the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Ability to work independently in an outreach capacity when required.
- Level 2 qualification in Playwork, Youth & Community Work.
