Role overview
A Science Technician is needed in a Mixed Secondary School & Sixth Form in South West London. This will be a part time long term Science Technician position with scope to go permanent. The timetable will be 3 days a week and the school is flexible on what days they can offer.
Key detailsThe rates of pay for this Science Technician position will be between £82.14 to £130 a day, depending on the qualifications and experiences of each applicant.
Responsibilities- Assisting and preparing practical lessons alongside the Science Teachers
- Ensuring equipment and materials are safely stored when not in use
- Guiding staff and pupils in correct Health & Safety policies
- Maintaining and repairing all resources when required
- Keeping track of what is out of stock and making the necessary orders when needed
- Disposing of hazardous waste in a safe manner
An 'Outstanding' Secondary School & Sixth Form in the London Borough of Merton. It is a mixed, 11‑18, non‑selective school with a wide demographic of pupils and staff. 90% of students stay in education or employment after Key Stage 4. The site has its own dedicated SEN Support Centre and a variety of sports facilities. Ofsted have noted there is positive culture of learning and a strong sense of community.
Requirements- Right to work in the UK
- Clear and up to date Enhanced DBS
- UK Science Degree or overseas equivalent
- COSHH trained/basic Health & Safety knowledge
- Experience in a lab setting or as a Science Technician in a UK school
