A well‑qualified, inspiring Biology graduate, or a closely related discipline, is required to teach at this academically selective, co‑educational North London day school, starting in September 2026.
Applicants should be academically well‑qualified, able to teach Biology with confidence to the most able Sixth‑Form pupils, and able to assist with elite university applications. The school has extensive experience preparing teachers who enter the profession without formal qualifications and supports colleagues who wish to obtain Qualified Teaching Status, offering comprehensive induction and ongoing professional development.
The DepartmentAll pupils study Biology as a separate subject in Years 8 to 11, following the Edexcel IGCSE course. A general science course is taught in Year 7, which is contributed to by all three science departments. The Department provides high‑quality teaching materials and encourages teachers to tailor lessons to their own interests. Over recent years, 98 % of pupils taking Biology at IGCSE achieved 9–7 grades, with the majority achieving a grade 9.
In Sixth Form the Cambridge International A‑Level course is followed; over 50 % of A‑Level grades are A*. Several pupils apply to Oxford or Cambridge and many pursue Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Medicine.
Facilities include four modern Biology laboratories, a departmental office and a prep room. Two full‑time technicians support teaching. The Department organises public lectures)、invites speakers, and supports academic societies such as a dedicated Biology magazine, a pupil‑run Biology Society and an Aquarium Builders club. Students regularly take part in the annual Biology Olympiad Competition and in extended projects.
