Academic Mentor (Science) – Secondary Academy, Brent

Are you a high-achieving graduate with a passion for Science and a genuine desire to support young people at a pivotal stage in their education? This is an exciting opportunity to join a welcoming and high-performing secondary academy in Brent, London, where you’ll gain invaluable, hands-on experience working with pupils across Key Stages 3–5, with a strong focus on KS4.

Starting 23rd February 2026 and running until May half term (22nd May), this full-time, temporary role is ideal for graduates who are considering teacher training in the future or those looking to deepen their experience in a school setting. The school has an excellent reputation for mentoring early-career educators and provides a supportive, professional environment in which to grow.

The Role

As an Academic Mentor (Science), you will:

• Deliver targeted KS4 Science tutoring to small groups and individuals

• Support pupils with exam preparation, confidence building, and study skills

• Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to remove barriers to learning

• Act as a positive role model, motivating students to achieve their potential

You’ll be working three days per week (Tuesday–Thursday), with hours of 7:50am–4:10pm (7.5 hours per day including a 50-minute lunch break), term time only.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for candidates who:

• Are recent graduates or have GCSE-level tutoring experience

• Have essential KS4 tutoring experience

• Are currently working within the education sector (school, tutoring, or mentoring)

• Are enthusiastic, resilient, and passionate about supporting young people
