Wetherby Senior School, founded in 2015, is a member of the Inspired Education Group of Schools, serving approximately 450 boys. The role of Assistant Head is a senior management position reporting to the Deputy Head (Academic) and Headmaster, responsible for staff development, pastoral care, and co‑curricular excellence.

• Ensure excellence from all staff in academic, pastoral and co‑curricular involvement.
• Lead staff development, professional review, CPD budgeting, and INSET programming.
• Support statutory training with the PA to the Headmaster.
• Oversee staff induction, probation, and off‑boarding processes.
• Co‑ordinate ECT lead teacher training and liaise with senior colleagues.
• Organise daily staff cover, monitor absence patterns and support staff return.
• Meet with the Common Room Committee to support staff welfare and cultivate a positive common room spirit.
• Represent the school at events, deputise for the Headmaster or Deputy Heads as required.

• Outstanding academic record with a bachelor’s or master’s degree relevant to the subject areas taught at Wetherby.
• Experience in middle or senior leadership roles (e.g., Head of Department, Deputy Head).
• Strong management of parental enquiries and pastoral concerns with clarity and confidence.
• Excellent teambuilding, delegation and collaborative leadership skills.
• Empathy for the particular demands on pupils and staff in a growing school.
• Clear, confident communication style and ability to champion the school’s educational offering.
• Demonstrable resilience, drive, organisational ability and stamina to handle a large volume of varied work.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and safeguarding standards.
• Personality that inspires respect, trust and builds rapport with pupils and the wider community.
