The School of Engineering at the University of Aberdeen is a research‑intensive, interdisciplinary school engaged in fundamental and applied research and offering Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PGT) degree programmes across five Engineering disciplines. The School invites applications for a Lecturer in Energy Transition – Electrical Power Systems. Applicants should have outstanding communication skills, a passion for curriculum development and delivery of engaging, innovative teaching, and an outstanding research record.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver teaching within a new joint 3+1 programme with an overseas University, primarily based in Aberdeen but requiring travel to China and/or other overseas locations (up to 4 weeks, typically twice per year).
- Provide taught courses at level 1 and 2 within the Engineering interdisciplinary curriculum outside the Electric, Electronic and Electrical (EEE) area.
- Develop and deliver curriculum and assessments that reflect cutting‑edge research.
Qualifications
- PhD in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related disciplines.
- Excellent research track record in one or more of the following areas:
- Smart grids and modern power systems
- HVDC, MVDC grids and DC microgrids
- Electrification of energy‑intensive industries
- Electrical systems for renewable energy production, integration and storage
Salary will be at the appropriate point on Grade 7, £47,389 – £56,535 per annum, negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Any appointment will be made subject to satisfactory references and a period of probation.
