Secondary Learning Support Assistant (SEN & SEMH) - ASAP Start
Location: East London
Salary: £100+ per day (dependent on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Temporary - Full-time, long-term
We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a dynamic secondary school in East London. This role involves providing targeted support to students with SEN and SEMH needs
, both in the classroom and in a pastoral capacity. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and the pastoral team to ensure every student feels supported, safe, and able to thrive.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEN and SEMH needs
- Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
- Support students' academic progress and personal development
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and pastoral staff - Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour plans
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Previous experience supporting SEN and/or SEMH students in a secondary setting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Reliable, empathetic, and proactive approach
- Experience with de-escalation strategies and restorative practices
- Knowledge of SEND Code of Practice
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, SEN training)
