Health and Social Care Teacher - Tower Hamlets

Salary: £175+ per day (dependent on experience)

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Full-time, temporary (sickness cover)

About the Role

We are working with a thriving secondary school in Tower Hamlets seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Health and Social Care Teacher to join their team. The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons across Key Stage 4 and potentially Key Stage 5, inspiring students to achieve their best in this vital vocational subject.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality Health and Social Care lessons in line with the curriculum
  • Prepare students for BTEC/GCSE assessments and coursework
  • Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback
  • Maintain effective classroom management and a positive learning environment
  • Contribute to departmental planning and collaborative teaching practices
  • Support students' academic and personal development
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and school leadership
Essential Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Proven experience teaching Health and Social Care at secondary level
  • Strong subject knowledge and understanding of BTEC/GCSE specifications
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
  • Professional, reliable, and punctual
Desirable
  • Experience teaching in diverse, multicultural school settings
  • Ability to teach related subjects (e.g., PSHE or Sociology)
  • Familiarity with vocational learning strategies
