SEND Teaching Assistant – SEMH & Behaviour Support – Secondary PRU – Barking & Dagenham
From £95/day | Secondary PRU | Barking & Dagenham | Immediate Start | Full‑Time | Long‑Term
Axcis are working in close partnership with a well‑established secondary PRU in Barking & Dagenham, supporting pupils who have experienced disruption to mainstream education and require a more personalised, therapeutic approach. The provision focuses on re‑engagement, emotional regulation and positive behaviour, with small class sizes, clear routines and strong pastoral leadership. Staff describe the environment as challenging but incredibly rewarding, with genuine support from senior leadership.
The school is accessible via public transport and offers parking for staff.
- Providing 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with SEMH needs, trauma backgrounds and challenging behaviour.
- Supporting behaviour regulation through de‑escalation, consistent boundaries and restorative conversations.
- Helping pupils access learning through structured tasks, vocational activities and differentiated resources.
- Supporting transitions, attendance routines and engagement throughout the school day.
- Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals to support reintegration pathways.
- Previous experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, PRU or alternative provision settings.
- A calm, resilient and confident approach in high‑pressure situations.
- Strong relationship‑building skills and emotional intelligence.
- Team Teach or similar behaviour training is highly desirable.
