Registrar Doctor in Urology Surgery

Overview

We are seeking to appoint two Registrars in Urology Surgery, with posts commencing in June 2026 and November 2026. This post will be dedicated to kidney cancer, testicular cancer and retroperitoneal surgery in urology, supporting other specialties. It will provide training in open and robotic surgery for nephrectomy (open and robotic), robotic partial nephrectomy, and open and robotic RPLND for testicular cancer.

The post holder will work under the supervision of specified Consultants and will spend time with Medical and Clinical Oncologists on site. The post holder will be expected to ensure adequate support is given to the Urology Team in all aspects of their service.

• Clinics
  • Support new and follow-up urology clinics, including diagnostic and surveillance outpatient flexible cystoscopy clinics.
• Theatres
  • Participate in and be trained in major urological oncological procedures appropriate to level of training.
  • Receive training in TRUS/MRI fusion and ultrasound-guided template biopsies of the prostate.
  • Approximately 3 lists/week and undertake endoscopic lower tract procedures for bladder cancer.
  • Operative exposure includes multispecialty procedures for pelvic exenteration involving colorectal, urology, gynaecology and plastic surgery.
• Academic/Research
  • Contribute to current departmental research, audit, and teaching, and lead research projects under supervision of consultants.
  • Participate in research activities related to robotic surgery.
• On-Call
  • May have the opportunity to partake in the pelvic on-call rota (gynaecology and urology) for the Trust. Non-resident rota providing cover for Chelsea site of the Trust and The Royal Brompton Hospital.
  • On-call arrangements will be within the regulation of the European Union directive.
