Overview
This is an exciting one-year clinical fellowship designed to provide sub-specialty experience in pulmonary intervention. The post would be well-suited to a respiratory trainee as an out-of-programme experience during specialist training, or as a post-CCT fellowship. The fellow will develop competence to become an independent operator in endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and pleural intervention skills, including local anaesthetic thoracoscopy.
Most patients requiring intervention are on a lung cancer diagnostic pathway, and the fellow will attend the weekly Lung MDT and chair the weekly pleural MDT. The post holder is expected to participate in departmental education and research.
If applying as a post-CCT fellow, there is also the option to contribute to the acute medical take at SMH at consultant level, including providing respiratory input into newly admitted acute medical patients.
This is a one-year clinical fellowship post designed to provide sub-specialty experience in pulmonary intervention. The fellow will conduct a weekly supervised EBUS / bronchoscopy list. A significant proportion of patients requiring intervention are on a lung cancer diagnostic pathway, and the Trust is working towards delivering the National Optimal Lung Cancer Pathway. The fellow will contribute to this work by attending the weekly lung cancer MDT and contributing to a weekly lung cancer clinic.
