Overview
Job Summary Applications are invited for a fixed term (end date 4 August 2026) Specialty Registrar post at King's College Hospital in the Department of Histopathology based at Denmark Hill. You will be supported by the consultants in the team (two of whom will be your Educational supervisors) along with other specialist registrars. The post-holder will have access to the same educational opportunities and assessments as other departmental trainees.
You must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a Licence to Practice.
The successful applicant will contribute to the provision of a routine comprehensive diagnostic Cellular Pathology service. The successful candidate will undertake a range of duties under the supervision of the relevant Histopathology Consultants. Candidates will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge of a wide range of histology and cytology specimens. They can also do autopsies if interested. Duties will also include preparing for and attending multi-disciplinary team meetings.

- be assigned to various divisions of the work of the department including autopsy, cytopathology, diagnostic histopathology, and cutting-up according to a regular timetable
- be gradually introduced to cutting up procedures with Consultant supervision (tailored to your experience)
- be encouraged as the necessary skills develop to handle more complex specimens
- be exposed to non-gynaecological cytopathology including fine needle aspirates and receive instructions in reporting these

- Qualifications:
Eligible for full registration with the GMC at the time of appointment - MBBS or equivalent
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists or equivalent qualification
- Experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk
- Clinical governance / audit experience
- Knowledge:
