Locum Consultant in Reproductive Medicine
Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a full‑time 0.5PA Grade consultant for a 12‑month fixed‑term appointment at St Bartholomew's Hospital (West Smithfield, EC1A 7BE
). The role will be based in the Centre for Reproductive Medicine within the Barts Cancer Centre and will involve participation in consultant‑led general fertility and assisted reproductive technology (ART) services. The successful candidate will join a team of three subspecialty trained consultants and two specialist grade doctors, manage a clinical caseload, train junior staff, and contribute to service development and clinical governance.
- Maintain a clinical caseload with highest quality care.
- Collaborate with senior clinicians, operational staff and embryologists under the lead clinician and medical director to develop and manage the Centre.
- Liaise with GPs, community services and other health agencies, and clinical colleagues across the Trust.
- Participate in the consultant on‑call rota covering out‑of‑hours work for the Centre for Reproductive Medicine and general Gynaecology at St Bartholomew's and The Royal London hospitals, and provide cover for colleagues in absence.
- Lead and participate in clinical audit activities, clinical governance, risk management, patient complaints and peer review site visits.
- MRCOG or equivalent.
- Equivalent to 4 years full‑time postgraduate training, including 2 years in a Reproductive Medicine trainee post.
- Higher research degree (MD, PhD, MD (Res)).
- Other qualifications that enhance service provision, e.g., teaching or management qualification.
- Broad experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- Minimum 2 years in Assisted Reproductive Techniques.
- Experience in gynaecological ultrasound.
- Ability to take responsibility for service without direct supervision.
- Experience performing Hycosys.
- Specialist experience and training in Reproductive Medicine.
- Good knowledge and experience in Assisted Reproductive Techniques.
- Understanding of the clinical governance agenda.
- Ability to coordinate and plan research and routine studies.
- Good skills in minimal
- Evidence of leadership.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and with colleagues at different locations.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to relate to colleagues and other professionals, and to communicate between specialities and disciplines.
- Ability to build and support a team.
- Broad range of IT skills.
- Evidence of experience in teaching and clinical/educational supervision.
- Good knowledge of, and ability to use, spoken and written English.
- Ability to work across sites.
- Participation in the on‑call rota.
- Sufficient to perform the duties of the post with any aids and adaptations.
- Ability to present effectively to an audience, using a variety of methods to respond to questions and queries.
