General Overview

St Mark's & LNWH have a major teaching commitment and have recently been awarded University Hospital status after being granted membership of the Association of UK University Hospitals. Educational courses are run throughout the year from the Academic Institute. The division manages General and emergency surgery and outpatient services across three sites:
Northwick Park, Ealing and Central Middlesex. The General Surgery Team operates a dedicated Consultant-led Surgical Assessment Unit and Ambulatory Hot Clinic supporting A&E flow and offering exposure to complex and innovative trauma surgery management.

• Work alongside existing junior and senior clinical trainees, fellows and 9 Emergency surgeons.
• Support ward duties, assist in theatres and clinics.
• Participate in training and research projects.

• 1st SHO on-call (weekdays and weekends)
• 2nd SHO CEPOD (weekdays and weekends)
• 3rd SHO on-call (weekdays and weekends)
• 4th SHO on-call (weekend)
• SHO nights (weekdays and weekends)

• GMC registration.
• F2/SHO level surgical experience.

• Team player able to work independently.
• Confident and clear communicator.
• Strong IT data management and verbal reasoning skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accurate prioritisation of workloads.

• Northwick Park Hospital – busy Emergency Department and hyper-acute stroke unit.
• St Mark's Hospital – internationally renowned specialist centre for bowel disease.
• Ealing Hospital – district general hospital with 24/7 Emergency Department and urgent care centre.
• Central Middlesex Hospital – surgical and outpatient services with an urgent care centre.
