An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fellow in the Cataract Service at Moorfields City Road. The post will be suitable for an experienced clinical fellow looking to expand their skills with an exciting and varied timetable including both outpatient and surgical sessions.
This role will give the successful applicant the opportunity to gain experience in a world-renowned teaching hospital, with access to the teaching and resources of Moorfields City Road and other Divisions based on the timetable.
This venture will provide the Ophthalmology opportunity to present widely and will provide an excellent level of management experience for future career progression.
Main duties of the job8 clinical sessions, of those 3 theatre sessions and 2 admin/study sessions. The clinical sessions will include cataract clinics and theatres.
Clinical sessions will be cross site and there will be a chance to attend the City Road teaching sessions when appropriate and use the facilities at the City Road site including the Institute of Ophthalmology library.
This post includes a surgical session to allow a cataract surgeon to develop their skills alongside a consultant ophthalmic surgeon.

Job responsibilitiesManagement of urgent cases presenting at any time during the week.
Attending clinical sessions and theatre sessions.
Supervision of junior medical staff and participation in informal and formal teaching.
There will be opportunities for undertaking research and audit.
Working alternate Saturdays.
Diagnose and manage patients under the care of the Consultant.

Person Specification Education- MBBS or equivalent
- GMC Registration with UK license to practise
- Can undertake routine phacoemulsification unsupervised
- Completion of Specialist Ophthalmology Training or Equivalent
- Research/Audit Interest
- Training courses in emergency ophthalmology
- Previous clinical experience in ophthalmology
- Emergency ophthalmology experience
- Experience in service redesign and management
- Previous experience of Corneal surgery
