The Department of Urology at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a highly motivated Locum Urology Consultant with a specialist interest in Non-Muscle Invasive Bladder cancer and Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms. The post holder will be part of both the benign urology and uro‑oncology teams with a clinical practice focused on, but not limited to, management of patients with haematuria, lower urinary tract symptoms and non‑muscle invasive bladder cancer.

They will also have a role in service innovation and improvement through transurethral laser ablation (TULA) and overseeing the delivery of novel and established intravascular therapies for bladder cancer.

The post holder will have a specialist interest and clinical expertise in the management of urological cancers, specifically non‑muscle invasive bladder cancer but will also have knowledge in the diagnostic work‑up of female lower urinary tract symptoms.

Main duties of the job
  • To ensure that services are responsive to the needs of patients and other service users and their families.
  • Where appropriate, to facilitate working arrangements between the subspecialty teams within the service.
  • To meet regularly with key members of the multidisciplinary team and support effective multidisciplinary team working.
  • To work closely with the DCD and management team to respond to and meet external standards relevant to the Service.
  • To support the college tutor and educational supervisor in junior medical staff issues training and performance.
  • To support the DCD, implement and monitor compliance plans to ensure that all junior medical staff within the Service are compliant with legal requirements.
  • To attend meetings as appropriate with the Divisional Clinical Director and management team.
  • In collaboration with the Clinical Leads and management team, to support the local implementation of the Trust objectives within the Division.
