Junior Clinical Fellow in Hepatology and Liver Transplantation

Junior Clinical Fellow in Hepatology and Liver Transplantation, fixed term 12 months beginning the 3rd August 2026 until 2nd August 2027.
The post holders will work within the ward-based team providing inpatient and day patient care to hepatology and liver transplant patients.
Applicants must be in possession of GMC registration and experience of working in acute medical or surgical specialties is essential. The main responsibilities of these posts relate to inpatients and day patients. The inpatient case mix includes post-liver transplant patients, GI bleeding, complex portal hypertension, decompensated cirrhosis and acute liver failure.
Patients attend the day case unit for day case liver transplant assessment or procedures such as abdominal paracentesis or liver biopsy. These posts will be most suitable for early career stage doctors considering a career in hepatology or gastroenterology.
Main duties of the jobThere is opportunity to attend OP clinics, participation in audit, research or quality improvement projects are encouraged.
The post includes a commitment to the out of hours rota for hepatology, liver transplant and HPB surgery inpatients.

Person Specification Royal Free World Class Values- Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values
- Possession of MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- GMC registration
- Possession of MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Previous employment as a doctor in the NHS
- Successful completion of FY2 year or equivalent
- Excellent clinical skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and willingness to be personally accountable for actions
- Strong oral and written communications skills in English
- Ability to build good relationships and work collaboratively with staff at all levels of the organisation
- Ability to relate to patients from a wide range of backgrounds and to empathise with their needs and concerns
