Position: Specialty Doctor - Critical Care | Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust

Overview

Applications are invited for 8 Speciality Doctors in critical care medicine. These vacancies are created as part of the expansion of the critical care department of North Middlesex University Hospital in North London, comprising 10 PAs and on-site resident on call.

The post will be full time and main duties will involve stabilisation and care of critically ill patients.

About the Trust and Department

North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust is one of London’s major Acute Hospital Trusts and draws patients from Barnet and Waltham Forest. This catchment area covers around one million residents and includes a highly diverse population with both affluent wards and areas of complex deprivation and health need.

The department is expanding rapidly. It currently includes a team of 6 Junior Fellows, 8 Senior Fellows, 3 IMT 3 Foundation trainees and 9 consultants, with a plan to recruit 3 more consultants shortly. The Trust values career development and welcomes candidates working towards CCT/CESAR.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in management duties within the department and provide leadership to MDTs.
  • Provide clinician services as per the job plan and work with consultants, junior colleagues and nursing staff to ensure efficient use of Trust resources.
  • Contribute to clinical governance and the development of quality enhancement projects in the unit.
  • Show flexibility and undertake appropriate clinical tasks within allocated DCC sessions as requested by the clinical manager.
  • Actively participate in the Unit’s Teaching Programme and supervise, teach and train medical trainees and other multi-professional staff in line with guidance from Royal Colleges or specialty bodies.
  • Contribute to clinical guidelines development, audit and CPD and participate in leadership activities within the department.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
  • Airway competency with a minimum of one year of experience in critical care in the United Kingdom.
