Job Summary
We are looking to appoint 3 junior clinical fellows based at Royal London Hospital in the Department of Surgical Gynaecological Oncology. The post is initially for six months, with a possible extension to twelve months. The post holds a key role in the multidisciplinary team of a Cancer Centre of excellence, working with 7 Consultant Gynecological Oncologists, 3 sub-specialty fellows, 1 research clinical fellow, and 7 junior clinical fellows.
Responsibilities include clinical duties, participation in research projects, audit, teaching, and liaison with other clinical teams.
- Provide clinical care for surgical gynecological oncology inpatients and attend all day operating lists, including laparoscopic and robotic procedures.
- Participate in audit and quality improvement activities, including weekly Grand Rounds, audit meetings, mortality & morbidity reviews, and weekend on‑call commitments.
- Engage in teaching and training activities for junior doctors and support the PACES teaching programme.
- Maintain patient care in accordance with GMC Good Medical Practice, contributing to multidisciplinary discussions and clinical governance.
- Work flexible hours including on‑call cover from 5pm–8pm and night cover; adhere to rota changes with advance notice.
- Primary medical qualification recognised by the GMC with current Full Registration and Licence to Practice.
- Desirable: MRCOG Part 1.
- Prior NHS experience in a clinical setting.
- Prior gynecology experience (F2/ST1/ST2 level) and basic procedural skills appropriate to FY2 or equivalent.
- Understanding of GMC's Good Medical Practice and ability to apply it to patient care.
- Strong teaching, appraisal and training skills.
- Effective communication with patients, families, colleagues and wider health professionals.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks and maintain flexibility.
- Knowledge of health and safety, equality and diversity principles, and professional probity.
- Proficient in listening, reading, writing and speaking English, with ability to build rapport and negotiate effectively with colleagues and patients.
- Capacity to work effectively with other teams within the Trust and adapt communication style as needed.
