Main duties of the jobMain duties of the job
Responsible for managing a caseload and addressing a wide range of healthcare needs within a primary care setting.
Work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to ensure the highest standards of care for all registered patients.
To actively contribute to practice planning and decision-making processes. This role therefore encompasses both clinical and organisational responsibilities.
Screens patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
Be available for 'on-call' duties to answer patients' telephone queries or carry out emergency home visits, or surgery consultations as appropriate. This also includes reading and actioning the hospital and other correspondence that comes in on the day
Carry out procedures in a safe manner by following best practice and infection control policies.
Work effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patients' needs.
About usThe Microfaculty is based in Chingford East London.
We are a well-established, friendly teaching practice, and our dedicated team includes our senior GP partner, 1 practice nurse, 1 HCA and admin/support staff. We have been providing a full range of GP services for over 30 years and have a patient list size of 4500 patients.
As a teaching practice, we have a GP registrar with us.
We are situated in a purpose-built health centre close to local amenities.

MAIN PURPOSE OF POST:
To provide a point of contact for patients and act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors and other medical staff.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST
The Salaried GP is a key member of the clinical team, responsible for managing a caseload and addressing a wide range of healthcare needs within a primary care setting. The post holder will work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to ensure the highest standards of care for all registered patients.
In addition to clinical duties, the post holder will actively contribute to practice planning and decision-making processes. This role therefore encompasses both clinical and organisational responsibilities.
Clinical Responsibilities
In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, issuing and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
Makes professionally autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred internally within the Practice.
Receives patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems and makes assessment of their health care needs.
Screens patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
Develops care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols.
Provides counselling and health education.
Prescribes in accordance with the Integrated Care Board (ICB) prescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate.
Admits or discharges patients to and from caseload and refers them to other care providers internally or externally as appropriate.
Complies with relevant Practice policy/guidelines, e.g. Child Protection, Safeguarding and confidentiality issues etc.
