Barts Health NHS Trust are seeking to appoint a clinical fellow post in Plastic Surgery, based at the Royal London Hospital; starting in March/April 2026.

This is a 6-month fellowship within the Plastic Surgery Department for a Post-CCT Senior Clinical Fellow with a special interest in Trauma, Hand and Upper Limb Surgery. The post is based at the Royal London Hospital and serves as one of the busiest major trauma centres in the country.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join a team involved in a broad spectrum of Plastic Surgery with a large emergency workload of upper and lower limb trauma. The post has a postgraduate approved training history and offers opportunities to gain experience in microvascular surgery (free-t tissue transfer) with subspecialist interest in upper and lower limb reconstruction following trauma and oncological resections for breast and head & neck malignancies.
You will join a team of 17 consultants, 15 SPR level doctors and 8 SHOs. The candidate is expected to have experience in managing common plastic surgical emergencies, particularly upper and lower limb trauma.

- ATLS
- MRCS
- Full GMC registration with a license to practice
Desirable
- Higher academic qualification (e.g. MD or MS)
Special Knowledge/Abilities and/or Experience
- At least 2 years experience in Plastic Surgery with adequate knowledge of hand/lower limb trauma
- Recent experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent)
Desirable
- At least 1 year previous experience in Plastic Surgery at Registrar level
Personal Qualities
- Ability to deal with busy multidisciplinary workloads in a major teaching hospital
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Evidence of the ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues and staff at all levels
- Ability to form effective working relationships within the MDT team and build broad networks across the Trust
- Ability to inspire, motivate and develop junior medical staff
