Trust Doctor; eqv to ST+ in Cardiac Surgery

Job Summary

Clinical Fellow (ST3+ Equivalent) in Cardiac Surgery, based at Barts Heart Centre for a 12‑month fixed term. The centre is the largest cardiothoracic and vascular unit in the UK, providing a full range of adult cardiac, thoracic and congenital procedures with over 2000 cardiac and 800 thoracic operations annually.

• Perform and assist in a wide range of cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures under consultant supervision.
• Manage postoperative care in the intensive care unit and wards, ensuring high‑quality patient safety and outcomes.
• Participate in a local weekly education programme and pursue concurrent research, audit and audit projects.
• Attend regular pan‑Thames training days and courses at the Royal College of Surgeons.
• Adhere to the resident and non‑resident on‑call rota, both EWTD compliant at band 1A.

• MBBS or equivalent.
• MRCS/FRCS and full GMC registration with a licence to practise.

• BSc.

• Minimum 1 year at ST3+ level or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years dedicated Cardiothoracic experience.
• Organisational skills and ability to work independently.

• Research presented or published.

• Competent independent management of medical and surgical problems.
