Job Summary

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust wishes to recruit an 8.83PA Consultant Gynaecological Oncology surgeon. The post is designed to provide gynaecological oncology operating lists and clinics, along with rapid access clinics to ensure the Trust’s adherence to cancer target treatment times and the faster diagnostic standard. Surgical support for complex obstetrics, including complex caesarean sections and management of women with abnormally invasive placentas, is also included.

The consultant will work a non‑resident on‑call schedule with a frequency of 1:7.

Key Responsibilities
  • Major operating lists – 2.74 PA per week.
  • Placenta accreta service support – 0.91 PA per week.
  • Gynaecological Oncology MDT attendance – 0.70 PA per week.
  • Gynaecological Oncology and Rapid Access Clinics – 2.47 PA per week.
  • Revalidation – 1 SPA per week.
  • Results endorsement lead – 0.25 PA per week.
  • Rapid access lead – 0.25 PA per week.
  • Other clinical and administrative duties as required.
Person Specification – Essential
  • On GMC’s register with a Licence to Practice or eligible to apply for GMC registration.
  • On GMC’s Specialist Register within six months of interview date or eligible for specialist registration.
  • Appropriate Royal College membership.
  • Sub‑speciality accreditation for Gynaecological Oncology with at least two years of consultant‑level experience.
  • IT skills and computer literacy.
  • Leadership skills: capable of leading, motivating, developing and managing colleagues; knowledge of finance/budgets.
  • Experience of teaching and training undergraduates/postgraduates and junior medical staff.
  • Understanding of principles of clinical audit.
  • Evidence of academic achievement appropriate to consultant level.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English to the required standard.
Contract and Salary

Permanent, part‑time (8.83 PA). Salary: £109,725 to £145,478 per annum WTE, depending on experience.
