Position: Architectural Technician / Design Coordinator
Location: Greater London

About the Role

We’re looking for an Architectural Technician / Design Coordinator to own the day‑today delivery of design information for high‑end stone and marble projects across London.

This is a high‑ownership role with responsibility for producing and coordinating accurate, production‑ready information, including drawings, cutting lists, the design schedule, submissions, and trackers. You’ll keep stakeholders aligned and ensure design output is consistent, controlled, and issued on time.

You’ll report to the Design Manager/ Head of the Design department and work closely with the Project Managers, and you’ll liaise directly with clients, architects, subcontractors and main contractors to keep design moving and decisions unblocked.

About EDM London

We’re one of London’s leading stone and marble specialist subcontractors, working on high end projects across central London in partnership with major contractors, architects, and designers.

Our clients include luxury brands, private residential developers, hotels, and historic buildings operators. We only work on one of a kind, high‑end projects where quality, precision, and finish are non‑negotiable.

What You’ll Be Doing Design Production & Technical Output
  • Produce high-quality AutoCAD drawings, details, and setting‑out information to EDM standards.
  • Produce and maintain drawing packs across all stages:
Approval, Construction, Cutting Lists / Cutting Sheets, and As Builts.
  • Develop detailed drawings of stone (and joinery where required) including joints, tolerances, fixings, and interfaces.
  • Support the creation and coordination of cutting lists / cutting sheets, ensuring information is production‑ready and buildable.
  • Order stone (and related materials) at the correct sizes and quantities, aligned with programme and lead times.
  • Maintain tight control of revisions, naming conventions, drawing registers, and document issue history.
  • Record, track, and communicate design changes and their downstream impact.
  • Check incoming design information for completeness and coordination, flagging clashes and missing information early.
Coordination & Information Flow
  • Coordinate design information flow between clients, consultants, and EDM’s commercial, production, and site teams.
  • Coordinate drawings with other subcontractors and the main contractor to ensure buildability and avoid clashes.
  • Manage RFIs: drafting, submitting, tracking, chasing responses, and ensuring closeout.
  • Attend and (when required) chair client design coordination meetings, setting agendas and issuing clear minutes and actions.
  • Liaise closely with clients to resolve design development issues quickly and keep decisions moving.
  • Receive, download, file, and issue information via client/contractor platforms (e.g., Aconex, 4

Projects, Viewpoint) and EDM’s internal systems.
Programme, Budget & Delivery Discipline
  • Work with the Design Manager and Project Managers to plan design tasks and ensure information is issued in line with the delivery programme.
  • Support programme coordination between design and the main contractor.
  • Escalate risks to programme, production, or installation early, with clear options and recommendations.
  • Support control of design deliverables against agreed targets (time, cost, and quality).
Site & Surveys
  • Carry out site visits and surveys, including setting‑out and measurement checks (laser equipment as required).
  • Feed site constraints back into design and cutting information quickly and clearly.
Quality, Standards & Compliance
  • Maintain consistently high standards of detail, accuracy, and documentation discipline.
  • Ensure design output aligns with Employer’s Requirements (ERs), relevant standards (including relevant British Standards), and project specifications.
  • Apply design‑for‑manufacture thinking: understand how geometry, tolerances, joints, and fixings affect production and installation.
  • Liaise with stone factories during production to ensure information is understood and manufacturing queries are resolved fast.
  • Oversee and review work produced by freelance drafters when required.
What We’re Looking For Essential
  • 4+ years’ experience as an Architectural Technician, CAD Technician, Design Coordinator, or similar…
