Senior Design Manager

A Tier One Main Contractor is seeking a Senior Design Manager to join the team on a major new build project in London. This is a key appointment within the project leadership team, supporting delivery on a large-scale, technically complex scheme.

We are looking for a Senior Design Manager with proven experience delivering new build industrial or data centre projects, capable of managing and coordinating design packages through both pre-construction and live delivery phases.

The Role

Lead and manage the design process from pre-construction through to on-site delivery.

Coordinate and manage consultant teams, specialist subcontractors and internal stakeholders.

Ensure all design packages are fully coordinated, technically compliant, and aligned with programme requirements.

Drive buildability, technical assurance, and value engineering throughout the design lifecycle.

Oversee the integration of architectural, structural and MEP packages, ensuring seamless coordination.

Work closely with commercial and operational teams to mitigate risk and resolve technical issues.

Chair design team meetings and manage design reporting and programme tracking.

Support the site team during mobilisation and throughout construction, ensuring design intent is delivered on site.

Candidate Requirements

Experience operating as a Senior Design Manager or strong Design Manager within a Tier One or leading main contractor environment.

Demonstrable experience delivering new build industrial or data centre schemes is highly preferred.

Must be capable of managing live design coordination — not solely pre-construction focused.

Strong technical understanding of complex building services integration.

Experience coordinating multiple work packages across large-scale projects.

Confident communicator with the ability to challenge consultants and drive programme.
