About the Job

We are looking for an outstanding Senior Graphic Designer to join our award winning Graphics team. Working in collaboration with our internal interior design team and other celebrated international architects, the graphics team produces way finding, branding, and environmental graphic design for several of the world’s most luxurious cruise ships.

The candidate will be required to deliver innovative and intuitive graphic solutions for prestigious leisure projects. Responsibilities will include Creative ideation and concept development, logo design, signage & way finding design and brand development. This role will also encompass way finding strategy, including location planning, content development and spatial analysis.

As a senior member of the team, you will lead various stages of projects, working alongside a senior project manager, to proactively adhere to schedules while pushing creative briefs.

Responsibilities

As a member of the Graphics team your primary responsibilities will include the following:

  • Make recommendations for concept, design and art direction for a variety of two and three-dimensional graphics and signage solutions
  • Collaborate with our multidisciplined pool of creatives and managers, external stakeholders, consultants, and a diverse portfolio of clients to actualise incredible branded environments. Prepare detailed drawings of signage designs.
  • Lead, coordinate and carry out extensive signage and graphic packages to a print/production-ready standard
  • Assist clients with translating their expressed needs and ideas into concepts, and develop into effective design
  • Prepare photo visualizations and mock-ups of proposed signage for placement, content and/or usage
  • Liaise with internal and external resources and be capable of researching and sourcing information quickly and effectively
  • Evaluation of user flow, spatial analysis, and location planning to form a cohesive user journey. Wayfinding documentation, including signage schedules and location plans.
  • Participate in project team meetings internally and externally and be comfortable presenting ideas and designs
  • Maintain accurate files and records, and manage personal workflow and schedule
  • Assist in the preparation of bids and marketing materials
  • Presenting to clients at steering committee meetings.
  • Building and growing client relationships. You are expected to use your initiative on following up on new business opportunities and you may be expected to attend networking events within the industry, as well as national and international site visits.
  • Maintaining client satisfaction and profitability in all projects you are involved in.
  • Responsibility to the Directors, associates and other members of SMC Design staff, and acting upon all decisions made by the senior management team in relation to the development and continued success of SMC Design.
About you

This role will be an excellent opportunity for a design obsessive, Senior Graphic Designer, way finding designer, or signage specialist. There will be great opportunity to grow within the roll, tailoring it to your strengths as the department evolves.

Experience
  • 8+ years studio and client facing experience in a Wayfinding or Signage Design position
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Suite, MS Office and other relevant software
  • An excellent, diverse portfolio of work
  • A broad variety of client/project experience
  • Ability to manage time, generate/manage schedules and workflow of projects efficiently.
  • Quality experience dealing with contractors and sub-teams on site including Architects and Vendors
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand and generate signage plans.
  • Experience in project management would be beneficial to the candidate

Salary dependant on experience. We will only consider applicants who provide CV, portfolio, and salary expectations. This is a full-time position. This position will be working in hybrid, from our creative studio in London Bridge, and remotely (4,1 split, following an initial review period).
