Originally founded in Honolulu in 1945, the firm’s values reflect an island‑inspired commitment to community strength, self‑reliance, and sustainability. Culture, heritage, and environmental stewardship underpin its approach to creating places that protect, respect, and enrich their natural and cultural settings while delivering long‑term value for clients and communities.

Role

The Interior designer leads multiple projects, contributes to revenue and growth, and is responsible for planning, organising, managing project teams, and overseeing resourcing. The role ensures smooth workflow and efficient execution of interior architectural projects. Acting as the primary liaison between principals, project teams, and clients, the Project Manager also plays a key role in team building and motivation.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the client
  • Represent the client’s objectives while aligning them with team capabilities and organisational standards
  • Consult with clients on functional and spatial requirements; prepare information on design, specifications, materials, colour, equipment, costs, and programme
  • Provide regular progress updates to clients; coordinate with project stakeholders to clarify issues and negotiate solutions
  • In collaboration with the Senior Designer and Project Architect, manage project execution and documentation across all stages—including contracts, budgeting, scheduling, design, specifications, construction administration, site observations, change orders, payment requests, FF&E, post‑occupancy review, and project learnings
  • Offer leadership and technical support for construction documentation, detailing, finishes, and adherence to design intent
  • Assist in organising project meetings, including agendas, minutes, reports, and action logs
  • Create and maintain detailed project programmes, work breakdown structures, and budgets, ensuring timely decision‑making to meet project milestones
  • Manage the relationship between contract requirements, team assignments, budgets, and schedules, and monitor the resulting impact on financial performance, forecasting, and staffing plans
  • Supervise and mentor team members to support effective delivery and professional development
  • Support senior leadership in the development of project scope, fees, budgets, and services during the marketing and contract phase
  • Contribute to business development, marketing initiatives, and negotiation efforts, including pursuing additional services with existing clients and preparing project and sub‑consultant contracts
Qualifications

  • 5‑10+ years’ experience in interior architectural practice with project management across all phases
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Suite, Design Smart, AutoCAD, Sketch Up, and related design tools

  • Strong understanding of project programmes, schedules, staffing, and budgets
