At Purcell’s London Studio, we are looking for a talented and passionate Conservation Architect to join our team working on the conservation and creative reuse of iconic and historically significant buildings in the UK. Current projects include the Royal Observatory Greenwich, The Royal Ballet and Opera, and the Bank of England. We seek architects with excellent conservation and design skills, and an enthusiasm for work of the utmost quality.
Responsibilities- Conduct condition surveys and produce conservation design solutions
- Prepare planning and listed building consent applications
- Produce technical design drawings and specifications
- Supervise construction and manage continuity of the conservation programme
- Coordinate and manage a multidisciplinary team through RIBA stages 3‑5
- ARB Part 3 qualified with a minimum of 2 years’ experience as an architect in a UK‑based practice
- Experience on conservation projects across RIBA Stages 3‑5
- Ability to contribute to high‑quality conservation design and produce well‑communicating reports and presentations
- Proven capacity to manage workload in relation to design and construction programmes
- Good understanding of UK Building and Planning regulations
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Well‑organised, proactive, and enthusiastic approach to work and projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Accredited Conservation Architect (RIBA CA/SCA and/or AABC) or ambition to become accredited
- Experience on conservation projects across RIBA Stages 0‑2 and 6‑7
- Project management and contract administration experience
- Proficiency in Revit and NBS
- Agile, flexible and hybrid working (minimum 3 days in office, up to 2 days WFH)
