Overview

Based:
The Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley. This fixed‑term post is available until August 2026.

• Provide predominantly ward‑based clinical practice while protected time is allocated for teaching activities and professional development.
• Develop and deliver teaching to medical students for candidates interested in medical education.
• Assist in the junior out‑of‑hours rota, attracting the out‑of‑hours pay supplement.
• Participate in rotation to Inverclyde Royal Hospital for a set number of weeks.
• Meet regularly with a Clinical/Educational Supervisor to develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP) and support attainment of career goals.

• Completed foundation training or equivalent, with recent experience working in a surgical specialty at FY2+ level.
• Demonstrated successful completion of Immediate Life Support (ILS) training.
• Holder of GMC full registration and a Licence to Practise in the UK.
• Eligible for PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check.
• Understand that this post does not have educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean and will not be recognised for training by NES.
• Applicants who have not undertaken a UK foundation programme within 3.5 years of the advertised post start date must submit a Certificate of Readiness to Enter Specialty Training (CREST) completed by a consultant who has worked with you for a minimum continuous period of three months whole‑time equivalent within the 3.5 years prior to the advertised post start date.
