REPORTER HYBRID / LONDON
Times Higher Education is seeking an experienced reporter to join an award-winning publication with a national and international audience, for an exciting role focused on original, agenda-setting journalism. The successful candidate, based in London, will lead our coverage of key issues within UK and global higher education, with their output including breaking news, comprehensive reporting on the policy agenda, interviews with movers and shakers, and exclusive stories which capture readers’ attention at home and abroad.
They will also write long-form features offering definitive takes on key talking points in higher education today.
We are seeking a senior reporter with at least two years’ experience on a respected news outlet, who can demonstrate a strong track record in finding and breaking news stories and building strong contacts around a specified brief. You should be a talented, enthusiastic and creative journalist with a nose for a story, strong writing skills, and the drive and commitment to contribute to a hard-working team.
You’ll be comfortable interviewing everyone from researchers to vice-chancellors and political leaders, will enjoy getting to grips with complex and varied policy issues, and will be adept at representing THE among university staff and the wider higher education community. We are looking for a reporter who can ensure that all of the important on-diary news is covered, but who goes beyond that to deliver off-diary news, insightful analysis, and who sets the agenda for our audience.
Experience of data journalism would be desirable but is not essential.
Times Higher Education was founded in 1971 and, from its roots as a UK policy magazine, has developed into the world’s leading source of higher education news, analysis and data. Headquartered in London, it has a rapidly growing online audience, reaching around 30 million academics, higher education professionals and students every year, and publishes the world’s most influential university ranking.
Final date to receive applications is Tuesday 17 March
You do You You do You. With colleagues located around the world, we know that our individuality and diversity of experiences are our greatest strengths. That’s why we want THE to be a place where you are welcome to be who you want to be at work; where you can share whatever part of your life or self-identity you want, without obligation or facing discrimination;
and where all abilities and perspectives are recognised and accommodated.
