To typeset high-stakes assessment materials for our examinations, transforming content into high-quality, accessible print and digital deliverables.
The role involves managing content throughout its lifecycle within our workflow systems and providing excellent customer service to support content teams during the production process.

We are combining design expertise with modern technology to improve efficiency, accessibility and consistency across all outputs. The successful candidate will play a key role in this growth, helping to shape new approaches, support innovation and ensure our content meets the highest standards for learners and educators.
Key Responsibilities- Design and Delivery of GQ and VQ High-Stakes Assessment Materials
- Process and typeset assessment materials from structured content sources (XML, Ascii Doc) and traditional formats
- Use Adobe InDesign for complex typesetting, ensuring accurate application of both automated and manual styling
- Produce final, accessible deliverables in PDF and HTML formats, adhering to strict quality and security standards
- Manage workflows and tasks efficiently within Jira
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with Assessment and Product team colleagues
- Create digital assets (e.g. illustrations and graphics) using Adobe Illustrator, ensuring adherence to house style and company guidelines for future reuse
- Champion and implement accessibility best practices in the creation of all assets
- Contribute to cross-department initiatives as required
- Drive continuous improvement in processes, workflows and tooling
- Identify and support opportunities for automation

- A strong eye for layout, typography and visual consistency, developed through design software, desktop publishing or advanced document formatting
- An interest in accessibility and inclusive design. Experience with accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG) is desirable; however, training will be provided
- Desirable:
Awareness of, or interest in, Modified Large Print and/or interactive modifications for print and digital content
We provide comprehensive training on our tools and workflows. The following experience is valuable but not essential. We are primarily looking for aptitude and willingness to learn:
- Experience with professional layout or design software (e.g. Adobe InDesign, Affinity Publisher, Quark
XPress, Canva, Figma) or advanced document formatting in Microsoft Word or Google Docs - Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is advantageous; experience with any Adobe application (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, Premiere) demonstrates transferable skills
- Experience using workflow or project management tools (e.g. Jira, Trello, Asana, or similar)
- Familiarity with, or curiosity about, structured content formats (e.g. XML, Markdown, Ascii Doc) and text editors or IDEs (e.g. VS Code, Notepad++)
- Willingness to learn command-line tools for content processing and transformation
- A basic understanding of HTML and CSS is beneficial; support will be provided to develop these skills if needed
- Editorial or proofreading experience in publishing, journalism or education
- Print production, prepress or reprographics experience
- Technical writing or documentation roles
- Marketing design or brand asset production
- Experience in exam administration, educational content or assessment
- Ability to take on delegated duties outside day-to-day responsibilities
