Technical Manager (Performing Arts / AV)
Location:
Camden, London
Salary: £40,000–£44,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract:
Full-time, Permanent
An independent school in London is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to provide hands-on AV and theatre technical support across a busy programme of productions and events. This is a key role supporting performing arts activity, school events and external lettings, working with professional sound and lighting equipment in well-equipped performance spaces.
The role
You will take the lead on the technical delivery of live events and performances, ensuring systems are planned, set up and operated safely and effectively. You will also support students and staff in developing confidence with technical systems and safe working practices.
Key responsibilities
* Provide technical support for productions and events (sound, lighting, AV, recording and web-casting)
* Plan, prepare, rig and operate technical systems for performances and events
* Maintain safe working practices across technical and backstage areas, ensuring compliance with health & safety requirements
* Train and support staff and students in the safe use of theatre sound/lighting systems and AV equipment (hardware and software)
* Support theatre lettings and external hires where required
About you
You will be a confident theatre/AV professional with strong live-event delivery experience and excellent communication skills. You should be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and maintaining high standards under time pressure.
Essential skills/experience
* Knowledge of Digico sound desks and associated equipment
* Knowledge of ETC EOS lighting desks, rigging, and network-based lighting
* Proficiency with 3D visualisation software such as Vectorworks and Capture
* Proven experience planning and delivering live events
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
