Job Description
POLITICO is looking for a tech reporter to join our U.K. team and contribute to our subscription service focused on U.K. tech policy. We provide non‑partisan, distinctive journalism for policy and political professionals in Westminster and internationally. We are excited about the opportunity to expand technology coverage, both to dig deeper into Westminster and also to join reporting up with colleagues in Washington, Brussels, Berlin, Paris, Silicon Valley, and beyond.
This is an opportunity to bring POLITICO’s trademark style of distinctive, impartial, smart reporting to U.K. tech. The role will cater to a sophisticated audience of insiders for POLITICO Pro, our subscription news service, as well as writing for a broader readership on our free websites globally.
Alongside breaking news, you will jointly author a must‑read, tech‑focused morning newsletter for POLITICO Pro subscribers. The role would suit a scoop‑hungry, energetic journalist who relishes technical detail, is alive to the politics underpinning policy decisions, and is looking to stand out.
Final date to receive applications is 6pm UK time January 23rd.

- Co‑author our daily morning newsletter for Pro subscribers
- Develop scoops and original story ideas, both for the subscription service and for POLITICO’s free‑to‑read website

- Cover the implications of policy decisions for industry as well as the political fallout
- Politics obsessive — demonstrable interest in Westminster politics and policy
- Strong attention to detail and to be unafraid of digging into policy coverage in some depth
- Pre‑existing knowledge of tech policy desirable, though not essential
- Proven ability to develop sources, though prior experience as a Westminster lobby correspondent or covering tech policy not necessarily required
- Comfortable working at speed as well as developing longer‑term projects
- Self‑starter with a willingness to work somewhat flexibly
- Our teams benefit from country‑specific, competitive compensation and benefits packages—including pension, healthcare, training opportunities and more.
- With a multinational team, strong ties to EU institutions, and flexible work options including working from abroad, we offer our employees an environment that supports both professional and personal development.
