PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £32,000 - £35,000, plus London Weighting, depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Purpose of the RoleThe 3 seasonal Assistant Event Producers are a key part of the Live Events team in Radio 3 that delivers all the events for the BBC Proms season. Working closely with the Head of Live Events and Event Producers their main role is to help plan and co-ordinate the detailed logistics of Prom concerts through to the running of those events for live audiences and broadcast (Radio 3 and TV Music).
They will report to the Head of Live Events and also work closely with the Event Producers who will task manage them across the summer.
The BBC Proms is the biggest classical music festival in the world. We run over 90 live events over 2 months in the summer at the Royal Albert Hall in London and venues around the UK. Nearly everything we do is broadcast across BBC Radio, TV and online. We are a creative, innovative festival that connects with audiences around the UK and across the globe.
You would be part of a dynamic team that looks after Live Events, Marketing, Learning, Communications, Publications and Business.
Key Responsibilities and Impact
- To work closely with the Head of Live Events and Event Producers on planning across the Proms season
- To brief and work collaboratively with a huge variety of stakeholders (internal and external), in particular Radio 3 & TV Music.
- To manage specific Prom events (small & medium scale) at the Royal Albert Hall & other venues where relevant.
- To produce key event paperwork to a high standard - concert summaries, stage layouts, rehearsal schedules using the event database Artifax and stage plan package Visio
- To assist with managing the event budget for each allocated Prom
- To deliver events which comply with relevant Health & Safety legislation/procedures
Essential Criteria
- In-depth knowledge of how orchestras and choirs work.
- Good experience in the detailed organisation & logistical planning of live classical music events with multiple stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team to manage several areas of work at a time; prioritising, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities.
- Good ability to problem solve, manage event timelines, negotiate and organise live events within budget constraints.
- Ability and skill to liaise sensitively with Proms talent at all levels and a wide range of stakeholders
- Good knowledge of Radio 3 & TV Music production and their output
- Good experience of forecasting and managing budgets
- Knowledge of all Health & Safety regulations and matters including child protection.
