International Women’s Initiative (IWI) is an organisation which raises awareness of the threats to the human rights of women across the globe and to promote and assist in the achievement of gender equality. Since 2012, IWI has worked to eradicate and educate on human rights violations against women. As an organisation which is run 100% by volunteers, we are looking for a Volunteer Editor who can help lead IWI's news writers while ensuring we remain true to our mission and goals.

Job Description

Job Brief

We are looking for an Editor to manage our staff news writers. You would work closely with PR to properly promote news content. Although you may on occasion be assigned with other duties, generally you will edit the contributing writers' texts.

Responsibilities
  • Check for factual errors by making extensive and meticulous research, and also correct logical and grammatical errors
  • Make edits as necessary
  • Provide regular feedback to our writers on how to improve their work
  • Maintain production schedules and report on the progress
  • Participate in brain storming sessions regarding publication content
  • Manage team of news writers, hiring and terminating as needed and necessary
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in the fields of Publishing, English, Communication, Media or Journalism
  • A Minimum of 4 years’ experience at Editor level
  • To be an ambassador for the brand at all time
  • Excellent editing, presentation and communication skills
  • The ability to work under stress and to keep deadlines
  • Positive attitude, detail and reader oriented with good multitasking and organisational ability
  • Fluency in English
Additional Information

Time Commitment: The minimum commitment is an average of 10 hours per week including a weekly one on one meeting with Executive Director.
