The Role- Job title:
Print Finishing Technician - Level: Entry – Mid
- Location:
Make‑Ready, Tottenham, London - Contract:
Full time, 40 hrs per week (Mon‑Fri, 9‑6 pm) - Salary: £30 800 per annum
- Manager:
Finishing lead
- Paper or art handling experience
- Guillotine operation
- Print finishing (hand‑cutting, deckling paper)
- Familiarity with digital print software and printing processes
- Forklift certification (paid training provided)
- High attention to detail
- Problem solving and communication abilities
- Good fitness (you will be on your feet most of the day)
- Basic safe use of hand tools (scalpel, cutting knife, drill, etc.)
Roles & Responsibilities
- Finishing and quality checking: QC and finish fine‑art digital and silkscreen prints to the highest standards.
- Finishing tasks include application of gold leaf, glitter, diamond dust and collage.
- Art handling: handle, finish and pack original and edition artworks with care, using archival techniques and industry good practice.
- Packing and organising shipping for samples, proofs and editions; editions are typically packed in art crates for safe international shipment.
- Guillotine operation (Polar Mohr 155): primary operator, daily upkeep, maintain safe working environment.
- Pre‑press preparation of papers and other media for print processes; manage multiple production workflow priorities to meet deadlines.
- Operation of forklift and lifting equipment for bulk paper store.
- Organise and maintain the finishing department; keep work stations in great condition for efficient workflow.
- Assess project requirements and timelines, communicate changes to Creative and Printmaking teams.
- Identify and assess improvements in digital finishing workflow.
- Maintain high quality standards across 100 % of projects.
- Maintain effective communication channels for optimum efficiency; reduce downtime caused by production changes.
- All projects QC‑ed to M‑R standards.
- Projects finished to a world‑class standard and packed safely to meet shipping deadlines.
- Work areas organised neatly and logically to maximise workflow efficiency.
