News Studio Supervisor​/Operator

Flux News are hiring for a News Studio Supervisor/Operator to own the day-to-day technical delivery of live hits, pre-records, and channel playout in their London studio, ensuring stable output and rapid issue resolution in a news-paced environment. Supported by the Studio MSO and Head of Production/Studio Manager, the successful candidate would work closely with producers, presenters, engineering teams and the Singapore studio team.

The role will involve coordinating handoffs to edit for fast VOD turnaround and long-form finishing.

• Technically produce and run 4 live hits per day and one daily long-form pre-records
• Operate vMix in a multi-machine environment (inputs, layers, audio buses, routing, recording)
• Operate ATEM for camera switching and manage ISO recordings (including file management)
• Operate PTZOptics NDI cameras: framing, presets, and switching workflows
• Manage remote contributions:
  Zoom guests;
  Singapore hits via NDI / vMix Call
• Supervise channel playout and graphics integrity via bespoke playout / viz and L-shape workflow
• Troubleshoot under pressure: NDI discovery, audio sync, dropped frames, network issues, contributor problems
• Maintain studio readiness: daily checks, templates, show files, preset hygiene, recording and archive discipline
• Document recurring issues and improvements; contribute to continuous reliability upgrades
• Daily output expectation: 4 live hits (5-15 mins each) and 1 pre-recorded long-form (20-30 mins), plus supervision of channel playout

• Hybrid control room: vMix + Blackmagic ATEM (ATEM used for camera switching and ISO recording)
• Three vMix machines:
  Graphics, VT (playout), and Production
• Cameras: PTZOptics NDI cameras (preset-driven operation)
• Channel playout and L-shape graphics run via bespoke playout and viz system
• Remote guests via Zoom; cross-studio hits with Singapore via NDI/vMix Call

• Proven live studio operations experience (news or high-frequency live output strongly preferred)
• Strong operational knowledge of vMix (live switching, layers, recordings, audio routing)
• NDI workflows and basic networking competence (switching, IP hygiene; VLAN awareness a plus)
• Clear communication, calm under pressure, proactive fault prevention mindset
• Comfortable supervising playout in a faux-24/7 environment and owning on-air continuity
• Willingness to work 5 days per week in the office, 8am-6pm

• Blackmagic ATEM confidence (switching, ISO workflows)
• PTZ camera ops experience (preset management and shot discipline)
• Understanding of SRT/RTMP contribution, latency management, and remote guest best practice
• Basic audio knowledge (IFB/comms setup, dialogue clarity)
