We are the current contract holders of the Vision, Sound, AV Operation and Maintenance managed services contracts for the Senedd Cymru/Welsh Parliament, UK Parliament, the Greater London Authority (GLA) and the UK Supreme Court in addition to a number of prestigious corporate bodies, Government Departments and commercial entities.
This is a key technical role operating the broadcast equipment used to deliver Chamber and Committee formal meeting procedural coverage as well as the AV equipment and service in our contract sites in central London. These include the UK Parliament, UK Supreme Court and the GLA, as well as our other locations as required.
Working in a number of small multiskilled teams, the main duties are rigging/setup/testing equipment, operation, and first line maintenance of a range of broadcast & AV equipment. The work includes remote control camera operation. Setting up and onboarding remote contributors into video conferencing (VC) calls. Vision mixing the camera and video conferencing feeds as well as operating the microphones to capture the audio and PA systems to provide room sound reinforcement for the members in formal meetings.
The successful candidate will receive full training. We also operate a continuous professional development programme for all staff to enhance their skills.
The successful candidate would need to be unflappable under pressure, an enthusiastic team player and have at least five years of similar experience delivering high quality AV and or broadcast support to clients. They would need to demonstrate tangible enthusiasm, an aptitude for the work, and real potential for learning, as well a confident attitude to the operation of equipment. The roles are client facing so good communications skills and a confident personality are important.
Working shifts are normally between 07:00 and 21:00 (early, mid, late etc.) but will be subject to change depending on how the client’s business is scheduled. Your days of work will normally be Monday to Friday, but there may be some weekend working. Should you work more than five days in one week then you will receive a day off ‘in lieu’.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Assisting with rigging, de-rigging broadcast vision and audio equipment, for example cameras, microphones, TVs, projectors etc.
- Operating remote controlled and manned broadcast cameras, sound/microphone switching and audio recording equipment, recording devices and other broadcast equipment during formal meeting coverage.
- Basic operational patching and equipment room set up.
- Vision mixing and colour correcting content as well as adjusting levels in the cameras (racking cameras).
- Operation of VC meeting software – setting up meetings, onboarding contributors and successfully managing multiple attendants on calls.
- Rigging and de-rigging of AV equipment – this can involve manual handling of heavy items.
- Setting up, testing, fault finding and operating AV equipment, from laptops to large screens displays, radio mics to PA systems.
- Ability to work under pressure in a high-profile public environment.
- Communicating effectively – whether by spoken or written word, telephone or email, good communication skills are vital in this job as it is client facing.
- Working effectively as part of team, liaising with others and using your initiative.
- Always maintaining punctuality and a smart appearance.
- Wearing company or client uniforms if required.
