The i Paper is looking for a new live news reporter to take on the running of news blogs for our award-winning website.

The right candidate will have the drive to cover the biggest stories of the day, and a demonstrable understanding of digital storytelling.

This role sits at the heart of the newsroom, always tackling the biggest story of the day. A strong understanding and knowledge of UK politics is essential.

Key areas of responsibility:

• Writing live blogs on the biggest stories of the day, from the Trump presidency to the latest crisis in Westminster
• Ensure high quality of our blogs, with an original and distinctive tone, reporting and analysis
• Writing sharp digital headlines that can capture an audience
• Using pictures and graphics to enrich the reader experience
• To enhance our use of social video in the format
• To also write standalone news stories, explainers and Shorts for The i Paper’s digital platforms

Skills and experience:

• Two years’ experience as a reporter at a newspaper or news website
• An understanding of SEO and how to use social media to promote your work is essential
• A fascination with British politics and an in-depth knowledge of Britain’s political landscape
• A clear understanding of The i Paper’s core branding of impartial reporting
• An ability to tackle the news agenda in a creative and original manner
• A clear understanding of media law and the Ipso code is essential.
