About HS2:
  • Therole will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK’s new high speed rail network.

    It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space onthe existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities withfast, reliable and frequent high-speed services.
  • The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 Main Work Civils Contract (MWCC) for London. The combined value of the contracts is significant withthe works due for completion this decade.

    Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaftsinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworksand the construction of site compounds

Key

Role and Responsibilities:
  • As a Project Controls Apprentice you will work and develop within the key functions, Project Controls, Planning andRisk Management, in the delivery of a mega project. There is also the possibility to work in the Change and Estimating functions.
  • You will join a cohort of apprentices learning aboutthe advanced techniques and methods used to manage projects delivering designand construction
  • Updating programmes and schedules to reflect the plan to complete the works.
  • Assessment of threats and opportunities,identification of mitigations and quantitative risk analysis.
  • Preparing and presenting project reports to avariety of stakeholders.
  • Assessing performance using both quantity andearned value methods.
  • Control of costs and bills of quantities.
  • Updating and maintaining the work breakdownstructure for the project.
  • Assessment of change and management of them through the governance processes.
  • Following training, manipulate and analyse complex data using various software packages.
  • Administration and coordination of meeting sand briefings.
  • Understand and comply with the HSSE polices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintaining your work diary as part of your apprenticeship.
  • Working towards and successfully completing your qualifications.
