Location: Greater London
Waites Recruitment Consultancy are seeking an experienced working foreman on a full time position.
My client has x2 projects currently in progress, One in Fulham and the other in St James
(Central London)
St James = apartment in a listed building, top of the range, complete refurb, change of layout, high end – ready (soft stripping currently)
Fulham = town house, basement, 3 floors above, complete refurb, maybe layout changing, extension with passenger lift, high end finishings. – starting in April
Role Overview
Job Purpose
To manage the day-to-day operations on the company’s building sites so that the contract is completed safely, on time and to the required standard, whilst complying with all relevant legislation and accepted industry best practice. Working to able capacity, or as trade allows, as and when required. Scope of responsibility is dictated by the nature of the project at any given time.

Accountabilities and Main Duties
Operations
Produce, work to, manage and report on the project construction programme.
Manage the works so that they are completed on time and to the standard required. Arrange for the works to be signed off in line with company QA procedure.
Organise the workforce so that they are fully occupied, working towards clear objectives and to required standards.
Organise and liaise with sub contractors with particular reference to meeting their agreed targets/programmes in order to maintain the overall programme for the works.
Co-ordinate labour requirements including organizing agency labour as and when required.
Requisition materials from the relevant supplier. Checking their delivery on site, notifying suppliers immediately of any discrepancies/damaged items so that they can be replaced with minimal effect on the works programme.
Identify snagging items throughout the course of the project and arrange for them to be rectified together with all items brought to his attention by the Contract Manager/Construction Manager, co-ordinating the trades through to completion so that the highest standards are maintained and post-contract snagging is kept to a minimum.
Workforce Management
* Deal with man management on site so that the workforce are motivated and directed so as to maintain output and adhere to standards.
* Lead by example with his own punctuality and make sure all the work force come and go as agreed and work the hours for which they are paid.
* Exercise discipline on site, taking the appropriate action with regard to any disciplinary issues that may arise, e.g. punctuality, standards of appearance, standards of behaviour, disputes etc. Accurate records to be kept for all such issues as and when they occur and the Contracts Manager/Construction Manager to be informed.
Site Administration and Security
Computer literate to enable the use of the company’s software systems
Ensure that all drawings on site are the most current revision so that the project is built correctly.
Keep man-hours records so that an accurate Health & Safety record sheet can be submitted to the pay office on a weekly basis.
Maintain an orderly site filing system so that papers and records are easily located at any time.
Manage and oversee the site welfare facilities as site conditions dictate
Completing the site diary as necessary and as agreed with the Construction Manager
Opening the site daily as directed.
Ensuring the site is left safe and secure at the end of each day as directed.
Making sure any alarms are set at the end of each day as directed.
The Construction manager shall ensure that the Site Visitors Book is maintained and that all visitors are signed in and out and will be responsible for them whilst on site.
Make sure that all GMD staff (site management team and GMD labourers) are wearing GMD hi-viz.
Make sure that all subcontractor labourers working on site are wearing either hi-viz displaying their company’s logo, or blank hi-viz. When working on our sites, subcontractor labourers must not wear hi-viz with any company logo other than their own, and it is your responsibility to enforce this. If they do not have the correct hi-viz, you should temporarily provide them with a GMD…
