Referment is proud to be working exclusively with Kilnbridge to appoint a high‑calibre Senior Buyer to play a pivotal role in driving bid success across major construction and engineering projects.

This is not a traditional buying role. It is about influencing commercial strategy before the project is won. If you come from construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, or a closely related industry and you understand how procurement can shape competitive advantage at bid stage, this is a genuinely exciting opportunity.

As Senior Buyer, you will lead procurement activity across bids, frameworks and strategic opportunities. You'll work closely with estimating, preconstruction and technical teams to:

• Secure robust, competitive supplier quotations
• Build strong supply chain engagement and competitive tension
• Identify procurement risks and market opportunities early
• Strengthen the commercial positioning of every tender
• Present procurement strategy at tender governance and board reviews

You will also manage one Buyer and report directly to the Group Head of Procurement, giving you visibility and influence at senior level. This role is central to winning work and protecting margin.

• You influence projects before they are secured
• You negotiate key commercial terms at pre‑contract stage
• You work on complex, high‑value construction packages
• You help shape procurement strategy across the Group
• You play a critical role in the transition from bid to delivery

This role is ideally suited to someone with a strong background in:

• Construction
• Civil engineering
• Infrastructure
• Engineering‑led contracting businesses
• Or a similar built‑environment sector

• Proven experience supporting work‑winning or preconstruction teams
• Strong commercial and contractual awareness
• Experience negotiating pre‑contract agreements and pricing schedules
• The ability to manage multiple live tenders under tight deadlines
• Confidence presenting procurement strategies to senior stakeholders

CIPS or CSCS is desirable but not essential.

Most importantly, you'll be commercially sharp, organised under pressure, and confident influencing both internal teams and external suppliers.
