Location: South Hertfordshire (office-based) with regular site visits across Central London

Level: Mid-Level Quantity Surveyor

Our client is a well established main contractor with a strong reputation for delivering prime residential projects
, alongside a smaller portfolio of commercial, retail and hospitality works.

The business undertakes projects typically ranging from £1.5m to £5m in contract value, with approximately 75% of their workload in the prime residential sector
. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to strengthen their commercial team with the appointment of a capable Quantity Surveyor.

We are recruiting for a Mid-Level Quantity Surveyor to join our client’s commercial team, based in their head office with regular travel to sites across Central London.

The successful candidate will take commercial responsibility for their own projects, including a key £2.5m prime residential scheme
, reporting directly into the Commercial Manager.

While support will always be available, this role will suit someone who is either already managing projects independently or is ready to step into a role with full ownership of project delivery and commercial management from start to finish.

Important: Candidates must have demonstrable prime residential experience
. Applicants without this experience will not be considered.

• Full commercial management of allocated project(s) from pre-construction through to final account.
• Preparation and management of cost plans, budgets, cash flow forecasts and CVRs.
• Measurement of works and preparation of interim applications for payment.
• Procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, including tender analysis and contract award.
• Management of variations, change control and cost reporting.
• Forecasting final accounts and managing commercial risk.
• Liaison with site teams, clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
• Supporting the Commercial Manager with procurement strategy and commercial reporting.
• Ensuring all commercial activities comply with contractual and internal procedures.

• Experience working on projects valued between £1.5m – £5m

• Strong understanding of commercial and contractual processes.
• Ability to manage projects independently, with senior commercial support as required.
• Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working on live sites in Central London.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills.
• Proficient in Excel and industry standard QS software.

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Working towards or holding professional accreditation (RICS / CIOB or equivalent).
• Experience working under JCT and/or NEC forms of contract.
