Project OverviewA leading contractor/developer is seeking an experienced Project / Senior Quantity Surveyor with a groundworks and civils background to join the commercial team on a high‑profile £50m new build commercial development in London. This is a challenging, hands‑on role offering the chance to work on complex groundworks, foundations, and early‑stage civils packages while supporting the full project lifecycle.
The Opportunity- Freelance / contract role outside IR35
- Flexible working arrangements (1‑2 days per week from home)
- Exposure to a high‑value, high‑profile project with strong long‑term prospects
- Opportunity to work within a structured, high‑performing commercial team
- Manage procurement and coordination of subcontract packages, with a focus on groundworks and civils
- Oversee post‑contract duties, including cost control, commercial reporting, and subcontractor management
- Support the project from pre‑construction through to final account
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal teams to ensure cost‑effective, timely delivery
- Degree‑qualified Quantity Surveyor (MRICS preferred)
- 4‑10+ years’ experience working with main contractors, developers, or subcontractors on groundworks and civil packages
- Strong understanding of procurement, subcontract management, and full project life‑cycle
- Proven track record delivering large‑scale new build schemes
- Excellent communication skills, commercial awareness, and organisational ability
- Day rate £350–£475, dependent on experience (freelance, outside IR35)
