What is the purpose of this job?

An opportunity has arisen for a Business Analyst at Rail Delivery Group.

The ITSO on Mobile smart ticketing programme introduces a new form of digital ticketing. This project combines the flexibility of mobile eTickets with the security and speed of NFC technology. You'll be at the forefront of this transformation, working to deliver requirements and analysis for solutions that bring true walk-up convenience to passengers across the UK. It's an exciting time to join this high-profile programme.

You will be working with our internal architecture team and alongside key external stakeholders such as the Department for Transport, mobile platform partners, and our suppliers to deliver essential business analysis deliverables. Using your BA skills and ITSO knowledge you will undertake both high level strategic and detailed analysis to define multiple sets of requirements, identify and define data flows necessary to deliver the end-to-end solution and map out both internal and cross-organisation business processes.

The role is ideal for an experienced BA who has some ITSO knowledge and wide-ranging full lifecycle business analysis skills, who is looking to be involved at the vital early stages of delivering the next new form of digital ticketing.

As a business analyst at RDG, you will form part of the newly established RDG Business Analysis Practice, setting BA standards and processes, sharing best practice and working collaboratively to ensure consistent, high-quality business analysis deliverables.

  • Evaluating suppliers’ capability to meet the requirements, either from existing solutions or from new developments
  • Defining acceptance criteria, ensuring that the team builds and achieves those criteria
  • Supporting the delivery of training to internal/external users and creation of training material
  • Contributing to and ensuring that all business analysis deliverables align with the BA Practice community and standards
  • Measuring and reporting on benefits delivery
  • Providing input into future development roadmaps.

  • Experience and knowledge of analysis activities across the full project development lifecycle
  • Experience of documenting requirements using use cases, user stories and other techniques
