We’re looking for a natural networker and seasoned communicator to join our growing team as Senior External Communications Manager
. Reporting to the Head of External Communications, you’ll play a pivotal role in building and maintaining DCC’s reputation across Westminster, Whitehall, and the energy industry.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong political awareness, media know-how, and the ability to tell compelling stories that resonate with a range of audiences—from policymakers and journalists to industry stakeholders.

How you will contribute to transforming energy and shaping the future.

  • Support the Head of External Communications in developing and delivering our external communications strategy.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders in Parliament, UK Government, and the media.
  • Work closely with our policy team to manage high‑quality submissions to government consultations and parliamentary committees.
  • Create impactful briefings, speeches, and opinion pieces for senior leaders.
  • Manage daily media activity including journalist briefings, press releases, and OpEds.
  • Help lead our digital communication channels, including our corporate website and social media.
  • Deputise for the Head of External Communications when needed.
  • Support capability development within the external communications team.

Your skills that will enable us to fulfil our purpose:

A confident networker and influencer with a proven ability to drive change internally and externally.

  • Strong working knowledge of Westminster, Whitehall, and the UK political process.
  • Media‑savvy with experience in a press office or communications environment.
  • A compelling storyteller with excellent writing and verbal skills.
  • Strong presence and credibility at senior levels in commercial or political environments.
  • Experience in regulated sectors such as energy or water.
  • Ability to thrive in fast‑paced, high‑profile environments.
  • Previous experience in an agency setting (desirable).
